BACHELOR OF ARTS IN CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education completes a solid foundation for prospective and practicing Christian educators who are called by God to teach with a distinctively Christian approach.
GTCC’s degree in Christian education will prepare you to minister effectively in a wide variety of ministries. You will learn how to encourage spiritual growth through meaningful relationships, compelling biblical teaching, effective program development, and influential leadership in a constantly changing culture. By adding a required ministry concentration area and optional minor, you can customize your degree to fit your desired area of ministry (church, camp, college campus, parachurch organization, cross-cultural context, etc.). This degree also provides a solid foundation for graduate study in ministry.

Recommended Senior High School Strand

Students who want to pursue a degree in Christian Education are encouraged to take the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand under the Academic track. The curriculum focuses on human behavior, literature, education, politics, liberal arts, and society. The HUMSS strand will cover relevant topics that may be further discussed in their college lectures.

Admission Requirements

Qualifications

  • The student must be a high school graduate.

However, if they were not able to graduate high school, they may opt to take the Alternative Learning System (ALS) and pass the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) to qualify for college; the availability of courses for PEPT passers depend on the university.

Program Outcome

Through completion of general education studies learners gain proficiency in critical and creative thinking, communicating and collaborating with others, and using technology. Learners also complete a survey of Old and New Testaments. They develop an understanding of the importance of a philosophy of Christian education, and formulate a personal philosophy. Learners understand the dynamics of interpersonal relationships. They also encounter leading educational issues, and engage with peers in their critical consideration. Through further studies in Christian education, they gain proficiency in planning, instruction, classroom management, and assessment.

On-The-Job Training/Internship

During the fourth year of the program, students are required to attend an On the Job Training (OJT) in educational institutions or churches.

Students are given the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in an actual work setting. Usually, universities require them to submit a written report on their tasks, learning experiences, and hours rendered. Their work performance will also be evaluated by their immediate managers and will be submitted to their respective OJT coordinator. The number of hours required may differ in each university.

BACHELOR OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Physical Education is a four-year degree program designed to prepare students to become P.E. school teachers. The program combines both theory and practice in order to teach students the necessary knowledge and skills a P.E. school teacher needs. The program aims to produce competent teachers specializing in the pedagogical approach of education. A program that will train you in developing and maintaining the optimal physical fitness and functionality individuals.

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Music major in Music Education program (BM-ME) is a four-year program that provides a strong foundation in the theories and concepts of music. This program prepares students to become music teachers that may specialize in: piano, guitar, voice, organ, strings, etc.

Students who want to pursue a degree in Music Education are encouraged to take the Arts and Design track. It provides students with the necessary skills needed in the performative and creative field. Skills in music, theater, visual arts, media arts, and dance are taught in this track. This will help students prepare for their college journey.discussed in their college lectures.

The Bachelor of Arts in English (ABE) is a four-year degree program that centers on the theoretical aspects and practical applications of the English language and literature. Its curriculum is designed to equip students with proper knowledge and skills for them to become articulate English speakers and achieve a high level of English proficiency; and apply it government and law, education, media, business, and the industry as an official language of the Philippines.
